Clinical PsychologistDr. Stuart Weir is a clinical psychologist at Monarch and serves as faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Houston Methodist Hospital. He is also an Assistant Professor of Psychology in Clinical Psychiatry at the Houston Methodist Academic Institute, an Assistant Clinical Member within the Houston Methodist Research Institute, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine. Prior to his tenure at Monarch and Houston Methodist, Dr. Weir was a Senior Psychologist at The Menninger Clinic, where he also completed his post-doctoral fellowship and pre-doctoral internship. Dr. Weir specializes in treating individuals who suffer from complex symptoms and diagnoses, and who may not have benefitted from other treatments. He also has particular expertise in multi-method and comprehensive psychological assessment, as well as providing clinical supervision and consultation. He has extensive experience in utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches for personality and co-occurring disorders, such as Mentalization-Based Therapy and Transference-Focused Psychotherapy. A dedicated educator, Dr. Weir regularly teaches and speaks on the topic of assessment, mentalizing, and personality disorders and their treatment.
